The idea of a perfect physique has plagued many of us for a number of years, but the actual commitment of following a strict food and exercise regimen seems like a huge deal and a task to follow. While going to the gym helps you to discipline yourself and makes you have a dedicated workout routine, it is not always a necessity to buy an expensive gym membership. There are a few ways which can ensure that you remain healthy and fit without loosening any of your purse strings.

A properly healthy lifestyle does not occur only through working out or exercising but needs discipline in every sphere of your life. This includes your eating habits and your means of commuting, among others. A healthy lifestyle begins with a healthy mind is a quote that we have heard a number of times but what does it really mean? It basically means that in order for your body to be completely healthy and fit, you need to take good care of your mind as well. It is always a good idea to continuously take up things and activities which tend to challenge you to help keep your mind fresh and active. And if you ever feel emotionally overburdened, journaling is a good way to clear your head.

Now let us get into some other ways to keep your body fit without actually having to go to the gym. We are in no way implying by this article that you should not go to a gym but we are saying that you can do without going to it.

  • Walk up and down steps:
We have heard about this a number of times. But it is not always the easiest decision to ditch the elevators and take the stairs, especially if you tend to live on an ungodly floor and have to carry a lot of stuff upstairs. While it may have its own challenges, but its benefits far outweigh them. Walking upstairs is a great way to get your heart rate up and fill in your cardio requirements that you would ideally do in a gym. The best part about this activity is that you do not require any special equipment and stairs can be found pretty much anywhere around or in your own house.
  • Portion your meals, instead of abstaining:
The thrill of going on a particular diet to lose a few kilos may be tempting enough but it is an absolute pain to follow, which is why many people who fall into this abyss tend to fail it. It is a far better and more attainable goal to just portion your food instead. The difference between going on a diet and portioning your food is that your quantity of certain food will increase or decrease depending on certain factors like your age and health conditions. What this will help in achieving is a proper and wholesome diet that your body requires and not abstaining from anything so that you are not tempted to cheat on your perfectly curated diet.
  • Do simple stretches to keep the body flexible:
While stretching may not directly help you lose any weight but it really does help in making your body more agile and fit so that you are able to undertake physical activities in a proper way. Incorporating a simple stretching routine in your everyday life can do wonders for your health as it also aids in calming down your mind as well. While you may already know a few stretches as these are quite common and easy to do, it is better if you follow a proper stretching tutorial to get maximum benefits out of it. There are many video tutorials which are available on online websites such as YouTube.
  • Try to eat homemade food more:
Just like when we were children and our mothers used to tell us to eat homemade food instead of junk food that we order from outside, it turns out that homemade food is actually way healthier than food which is ordered. Food which is made at home can also be customised according to the kind of food you like and the food that your body needs. You also know exactly what all ingredients are used to prepare that food which is in stark contrast to outside food as we do not really know what has gone inside it and if the process of preparing it is hygienic enough or not.
  • Incorporate fruits and juices in your diet:
Inducting natural fruits and vegetables in your diet instead of binging on junk food can make a huge difference to your physique. Our body relies on our food to provide us with all the necessary nutrients like vitamins and minerals that we need to live. Eating fibrous foods can keep your stomach and digestion healthy. Ingesting a lot of liquids such as freshly squeezed fruit juices and water can also do wonders for your health. If you do have a particular deficiency of some nutrient in your diet, it is better to plug it by taking multivitamins so that you do not end up suffering from any harmful disease later on in life.
  • Make sure to get fresh air every day:
We can tend to overlook and ignore the importance of getting fresh air every single day. Stuck in our busy lives and especially now when we are not venturing out of our houses much, making sure to get fresh air every day can prove to be a task. But its importance should not be underestimated in any way. Humans were meant to be the creatures of nature and fresh air can instantly calm you down and keep you healthy and fit for much longer. Make sure to go for a walk every day, even if for five to ten minutes.

Now that we have seen all the different ways in which we can remain healthy and fit without having to visit the gym, fitness can become a much more attainable goal for us all. So what are you waiting for? Go follow these steps and get that body which you have always wanted!
